The graphene foils are made with the graphene platelets tightly packed in the film.
Size: ANI offers graphene films with diameters up to 13 cm and area densities of 0.1 to 3.0 mg/cm2 are standard. Higher mass density foils are available on custom orders.
Density: The graphene film density is approximately 1.5 - 2.0 g/cm3, which is comparable to the density of bulk graphite being 2.2 g/cm3.
Thermal Conductivity: The in-plane thermal conductivity of the graphene foil sample was found to be 1480 W/mK. Measurements of thermal conductivity were made using the ASTM E1461 laser flash method by NETZSCH Instruments North America LLC. The following parameters were used for the calculation of the thermal conductivity: bulk density of the graphene film sample 1.55 g/cm3, temperature 25°C and specific heat Cp 0.73 J/gK. The measured thermal diffusivity is 1308 mm2/s.
Electrical Resistance: Measured sheet resistance of graphene films is in the range of 13 - 260 Ohm/sq and is linearly dependent on area mass density.
Mechanical Strength: The calculated ultimate tensile strength of as-prepared films is 167±16 MPa. Samples of graphene films were tested for tensile strength using a standard pull test. The average sample size was approximately 2 cm x 2 cm and the measured tension force was on the order of 10 N.
The graphene films were characterized as charge stripping foils for ions of different atomic mass and energy. The beam tests proved excellent charge stripping and lifetime characteristics of the graphene films.
